Wii Unlock Plus was my chosen option for unlocking my Wii console however I realize that there are many other options available online.

Whatever option you choose it is important to get value for your money and more than that ensure that the software does what it promises and does not void your warranty.

Aside from that there are a few things you should look for before you purchase.

No mod chips. Whatever option you use, do not select one that requires the use of a mod chip since opening your box will immediately void your warranty. Besides, with so many soft mod options available why would you want to even go there.
Use of a recognized payment processor. This is fairly obvious but I will mention it. Use of a recognized payment processor means less trouble for you if you need to get a refund. Which brings me to my next point.
Offers a money back guarantee. Most of the better solutions offer a 60 day money back guarantee of you are not completely satisfied.
Once unlocked with the chosen software you should be able to play DivX Movies and DVDs, play play the Sega Genisis, N64 and SNES console games, save and play Backup Wii Games, play games through a HomeBrew Channel and download and use other applications on your console.

Wii Unlock Plus met all my requirements and so I have no hesitation in recommending it.
